Staalplaat is a legendary independent record label, a radio program, an international sound artists forum and a network, founded in 1982 by Geert-Jan Hobijn in Amsterdam.
Recorded live at Amsterdam's Oude Kerk during the 2025 Sonic Acts Festival, The Organ is the World's Greatest Synthesizer finds Charlemagne Palestine returning to the Staalplaat catalog. Taking its title and cover from a drawing made by Palestine during the performance, the work expands his singular mythology of sound and spirit (hand screenprited cover).
First compilation on LP of the sound works of the two Dutch visual artists, demonstrating that sound produced by the Bosch & Simons music machines can also be listened to as autonomous "music".
Recordings from two installations/performances by the Berlin-based sound artist that explore the physical presence of sound phenomena, by producing the impact of electronic music but with purely acoustic means.
